There have always been differences of opinion on the ideal or preferred female body shape both for attractiveness and for health reasons. Whatever your preference or ideal, I think we can all agree that comparing the female shape to fruit is both insulting and non-descriptive. Traditionally the female body has been categorized into 4 basic geometric shapes with a fruit label attached to 3 out of the 4.
The traditional shapes are apple (triangle downward), banana (rectangular), pear (triangle upward), and hourglass (triangles opposing, facing in). There is a wide range of actual sizes for each shape. I don’t know about you but if someone called me a banana, I would be offended. I just don’t identify with fruit. I don’t know the exact origins of these labels but am pretty sure they were invented by a man that liked fruit. Why do we put up with this? If you don’t want to continue, I have some great news. There is now a gem based system for profiling the female body shape with respect that’s called the D.R.E.S. System.
