Quality over Quantity

I was thinking about this topic again the other day as I looked at the overwhelming amount of clothing at a local Macy's. I was shopping with my son for some shorts and even in the men's department there was too much. Most of it poor quality and even poorer design.

Good quality is not an extravagance, it lasts for a long time and may end up to be cheaper because you get more uses of each item. When you really love an item, you will wear it over and over. In the long run, it will be less expensive and more satisfying. I have pieces that have been in my closet for many years and I am just as excited wearing them today as I was when I first bought them. They were expensive but that quality, tailoring, style, and material make each items stand out and get noticed.

So an elegant dressing and shopping rule of thumb is to hold out for the quality stuff, buy only what you love and do more with less. You can be classy and fabulous on a budget. My rule of thumb is 8-10 of the best pieces that I can afford that form the core of your wardrobe. In a future blog, I will discuss the pieces in more details.
