By Margaret Spencer, Founder and CEO With the rising temperature during the summer months, many women are drawn to the idea of a shorter hair style. Getting that extra weight off your neck can cool you down as well as bring summery lightness to your look. However, knowing which short cut will work with your face shape can make the difference between a cut that works for you and one that works against you. Holobi stylists use a math-based system to determine which of the four basic face shapes (diamond, ruby, emerald or sapphire) represents your facial balance. From here, we can recommend what short style will compliment your features and create balance in your face.
A ruby would benefit from a layered cut that hits at the jaw line, styled so the ends sweep away from the face. This will create balance by softly bringing width to the jaw line.
If you are an emerald, framing the face, especially the cheekbones, with a short, layered cut that sweeps in towards the face will round out your face with a romantic twist.
For a sapphire it’s all about adding volume. Try an edgy cut that is very short but full at the top of the head, with bangs that taper towards the bottom of the face.
Diamonds can experiment with the shortest cuts, as long as they are willing to put in the effort to style them with a feminine whim. Angled bobs that strike at a strong cheekbone are another good option. Short hairstyles are a fun way to welcome summer, and with the right cut and styling for your face shape, it’ll be a sunny new look. |
