For pants, cotton or synthetic, dressy capris, are all acceptable. Never should you wear bermuda shorts, sweatpants or exercise pants, spandex in any form, and certain types of jeans. For skirts and dresses, they should fall at or below the knee. You should be able to sit comfortably in them. Minis, sun dresses, skorts, and spaghetti straps are all inappropriate. For tops, nothing with offensive slogans, no tank tops, midriff tops, or halter-tops. Anything sleeveless should be worn under a dress, jacket, or another blouse. I would use the same rule for t-shirts. For shoes, no thongs, flip-flops, or slippers are allowed. Women can go without hose in warm weather but make sure the sandals are on the conservative side. In general, use common sense. If you want to be taken seriously and be respected at your place of employment, then dress accordingly. What we wear and how we wear it, sends out powerful messages to the people around us. |
