I would like to follow up with my previous blog on hemlines, by discussing what type of skirt is the most flattering for each of our body shapes:diamond, ruby, emerald, and sapphire. If after this you are still unsure, remember that the most flattering skirt length no matter height or shape, is right above or at your knees. The D.R.E.S. system is all about balance. If you are trying to show off your curves (diamond) or add curves on a straight frame (emerald), look for lighter colors, patterns (such as polka dots, stripes, checks). Look for wide waist bands or belts for a diamond to show off the waist. Pockets, buttons and other embellishments for an emerald to add curves. If you are trying to minimize hips and legs (sapphire) choose A-line skirts in solid, darker colors such as black, brown, navy that hit at or just below the knee. Balance larger bust and shoulders (ruby) with a fuller skirt that is a little shorter to show off those legs and to add volume. In summary, if you want to look good in a skirt, it is vital to choose the right length and fit for your body shape.
